How We Review

DreamQuietly publishes independent, research-based buying guides and comparisons for earplugs, sleep masks, and white noise machines. We aim to make product differences easier to understand so readers can choose based on their own needs, budget, and sleeping habits.

Our research-based review process

We identify the questions that matter to shoppers, consult published product information and relevant research, and organize our findings into practical comparisons. We consider intended use, features, materials, care requirements, fit options, availability, and value. We do not present a manufacturer’s marketing language as an independently verified result.

How we compare product specifications

We compare model-specific details published by manufacturers, such as earplug materials and stated attenuation ratings, sleep-mask construction and adjustability, or white noise machine sound options and controls. Specifications can change; readers should confirm the current model, price, warranty, and return policy on the manufacturer’s website before purchasing.

Comfort, fit, and individual suitability

Comfort is personal. An earplug’s seal depends on ear shape and fit; a sleep mask may feel different for side sleepers or people sensitive to pressure; and a sound machine’s usefulness depends on room conditions and preferences. We describe design features that may matter without claiming to know how a product will feel or perform for every person.

How we assess claims and evidence

We distinguish published specifications, marketing claims, user-reported experiences, and broader scientific findings. Noise-reduction ratings obtained under standardized conditions are not a guarantee of real-world results. When evidence is incomplete or inconsistent, we say so instead of assigning unsupported performance scores or star ratings.

Editorial independence and affiliate links

Our editorial recommendations are intended to reflect reader needs, not payments from manufacturers. DreamQuietly may earn commissions through qualifying affiliate links if and when affiliate partnerships are active. Any such relationships will be disclosed clearly. Read our Affiliate Disclosure for more information.

What we have not tested

At present, we do not conduct hands-on comfort trials, laboratory noise measurements, light-blocking measurements, or battery-life tests. We do not use original product-testing photographs or claim first-hand results. A product’s inclusion in a guide should not be interpreted as proof that we physically evaluated it.

Updates and corrections

We aim to revisit guides when product models, specifications, availability, or reliable evidence change. If you notice an error or outdated information, please contact us. We welcome corrections and will update material inaccuracies when verified.

Our commitment: clear sourcing, useful comparisons, honest limitations, and no claims of hands-on testing unless we actually perform and document it.

Our current reviews are not hands-on product tests. We have not purchased, worn, measured, or personally tested the products discussed in our reviews. We distinguish manufacturer claims from independent evidence and explain where information is limited.
